Rain, Ubuntu and Budokai Tenkaichi 3

The monsoon this year reminds me of partial fractions," everywhere but nowhere".lol. It's raining, but it's not the sort of rain which makes people watch Sun news all evening, hoping for a holiday. It's the sort of rain which makes the school ground just wet enough for principal to declare the ground as "unfit and dangerous" for pt.

School is EXTREMELY boring these days. There is very little to do and very little to learn. The only reason I still go to school is for attendance. Lack of pt periods just makes things worse.

I still can't figure out why school uses Windows instead of ubuntu. I think it has got something to do with c++ compilers for ubuntu. Surely, they have at least ONE c++ compiler for ubuntu. Ubuntu is much fun. It's slick and fast. The problem with ubuntu is file compatibility, and of course installation.Thing is the layman simply cannot install even the simplest of software on ubuntu. Plus, most people don't make software compatible with ubuntu. But trust me once you get used to it, ubuntu is great fun. You can download it from http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/download or get it shipped for FREE!.You can even choose to install ubuntu as a windows application. That way you can check it out without losing any of your data. If any of you manage to install pcsx2 on ubuntu please tell me. I'm having a very very hard time doing it.

The reason I want pcsx2 for linux is Budokai Tenkaichi 3. It's loads of fun if you get good frame rates.Try downloading the BT3 image from piratebay follow instructions given in the pcsx2 website. Pcsx2 0.9.6 works perfectly on windows (well almost), but windows is pretty slow. Not because I can't maintain my computer, windows is just simply slower than ubuntu.

If you have any idea how to install pcsx2 on ubuntu send a mail to swaroop551992@gmail.com
(I know no one is going to read this, it doesn't matter)

Elections

"The largest democracy in the world goes to polls".
We ll probably seeing this on news channels all summer. But, I don't think India is a proper democracy. True, there are more parties than anywhere else. But do we have different "choices". Most parties don't have a proper ideology. They are all "secular" without even knowing what the word means. Their ideology changes from month to month, sometimes even twice a month. The only parties which come even close to having a proper idea are the left parties. But they are outdated, and truly suck because they are what they are, leftist.

In a true democracy, the people have a choice. They can choose the people whom they think should lead the country. But do we really have a choice? If I don't like party A and vote for party B , I find that A and B eventually end up having a post poll alliance and come into power. So my vote is turned against myself. Post poll alliances are a mockery of the people's mandate, they should be banned. But they will not be, because the very people who have the power to ban it are the ones who are involved in it.

Money and politics are like milk and water, highly miscible .By money, I mean the money which is spent on buying votes. The graph of money in politics vs effort undertaken to separate money from politics is like that of an exponential function. It can never reach zero. But we CAN greatly reduce the miscibility if a large % of us refuse to take bribes however lucrative they may be. Think of this, a 1000 Rs for your vote may seem like a huge bargain, but if everyone thinks like you the country may end up in the wrong hands and that could prove VERY VERY costly.

Even if you refuse to accept bribes, goondas could still beat you up and force you to vote for a particular. Don't be such an idiot, don't let them beat you up, give in, vote for the party. But on your way home call the voter helpline from a pco and report. I think there should be a mechanism in place which allows you to make your vote invalid.

And PLEASE vote. Because if you don't you are not only giving an opportunity for the wrong people to come into power but you are doing something that is against the very spirit of democracy.

Vote,vote wise.

My concept of god

This is the script for a speech I have to deliver (thats a scary word but I can't come up with anything more appropriate) on Tuesday. It counts for some ten marks in my next assignment. :D

My concept of God
Good morning (afternoon) to one and all.
I m here to speak on my concept of god.
Before defining god, we have to define life. To put things like a mushroom, Steve Harmison and a spider in same set of objects is a very awkward thing to do. No definition of life is exact. The line of separation between what is life and what is not is blurred. Why is this so?
When someone writes an ‘A’, we don’t say “It’s kinda ‘A’ ish, but there a hint of K in it”, we are exact. The reason is, we know that the person writing the letter intended to write “Ant” and that’s what it means. So the classification is based on the purpose with which the creator made the object. So in the absence of a god you cannot define what life is, because god, as we perceive is the creator of life.
How did the idea of god come about?
Let us go back to the origin of mankind. Man went around the world killing animals, growing plants, making shelters and so on. He perceived himself as a maker. But then, one fine day he asked himself, “There is only one thing in the world that “makes” things and that’s me. But who made this world in the first place?”
Then he decides that someone must have made it because nothing comes out of the blue. Everything has to be ‘made’. Further, he thinks, “Whoever made this world must have made it for me, because it suits me so well.” He felt that he had to give back to the person who made this world for him in some way, and thus came about, the idea of god.
If someone were to make an inventory of objects in the universe, it would stretch to billions and billions of pages. The universe is such a complex entity that the idea of god seems too simple and even if we were to accept it, where did god come from? .To that question I have no answer.
Man comes up with all sorts of useless ideas. Take money for example. What can we do with money? Can money breed? Can we live in it? Can we cook it and eat it? No! Nothing! We exchange money and all sorts of wonderful things happen, we get food, houses and so on. Why do these things happen? It’s because money is an idea we have subscribed to and if we were to do away with the concept of money then the world’s economy would implode because almost all of the trade in the world is based on money. The idea of money is so simple and it makes life easier for us.
If we were to extend this idea to god, then we could say that the idea of god is there because it makes life easier for us. It’s a simple answer to all the complex things in the universe. That is why the idea of god is so powerful.
God may or may not exist. If someone were to come up with conclusive evidence on the non- existence of god, I don’t think that the intellectuals in the world would let it reach the common man because it would cause chaos and nothing else. On the other hand if someone came up with evidence on the existence of god, then they would let it reach the masses because that would further simplify things.
God may or may not exist. That’s not what is important, what is important is what the idea of god does. So for me, it is not about the existence of god or the kind of god, it’s about how my belief in god makes life less complicated. If I did not believe in the idea of god I would have to come up with an explanation for each and every occurrence and if I didn’t I would be contradicting my atheism. For me god is the one person who put the idea of god into man’s head.
Thank you.
